Longest Shot Gets The Last Laugh

He may have gone postward with the longest odds of all his foes on Sunday afternoon (November 12) at Truro Raceway, but N S Acadian had the last laugh when he hit the wire first a mile later.

In rein to his trainer, Henry Smallwood, N S Acadian ($38.70) suffered a bit of interference after his Post 4 start and found himself fifth at the opening quarter (:28.2).

Smallwood had his charge first-up and racing in the second quarter, and found himself battling for the lead at both the 1:00 half and the 1:30.2 three quarters.

Remaining determined through the lane, N S Acadian disposed of the pacesetting Big Joe Doby and held off the hard-closing Woodmere Violator for a neck victory in 2:02.2. Schooner Or Later finished third.

N S Acadian, a 10-year-old Force Of Life gelding, races for Bob Smallwood of New Minas, NS.
