The queen of Western New York trotting, Tuesdays With Mom, notched her fifth win of the season when she won the featured $8,100 Lt. Colonel Matt Urban Open Trot, Veteran Day evening at Batavia Downs Casino

. The race was named in honour of a highly decorated World War II hero.

The only mare in the field of six, Tuedays With Mom, with Jack Flanigen at the controls, flashed her usual good gate speed but got caught out three-deep heading into the first turn when both Perfect Man (Dave McNeight III) and Rompaway Brandon (John Cummings Jr.) also fired out of the starting gate.

Flanigen continued on with Tuesdays With Mom and was released by Perfect Man in a quick :28.2 opening quarter. The track's dash leading reinsman was then able to throttle her speed giving her a :31 second, second quarter breather.

Down the backstretch Tuesday With Mom opened up a two length lead, trotting a strong :29.4 third quarter. A :30 second final stanza ensured a two length win in 1:59.1. The pocket-sitting Perfect Man could make no headway at the winner but was a clear second over the first over Fifty Two Finn (Mike Baumeister), who won the show photo.

Tuesdays With Mom is owned and trained by Peter Arrigenna, who is also the breeder. The Credit Winner-Princess Deana four-year—old raised her lifetime earnings to $462,231.

Racing resumes on Saturday night with a Pick-6 carryover of $2,367. Post time is 6:40 pm. There are only 10 more nights left in the 2011 season.
