Timberline Court wired the field of Open pacers at Fraser Downs on Friday night avenging a close loss to Red Star Paylater last time out

.

In the $10,000 feature event, Timberline Court and trainer-driver Gerry Hudon shot to command from Post 4 ahead of insider starter Red Star Paylater (Ed Hensley), the even-money favourite after winning last week’s top pace.

Red Star Paylater pulled the pocket just before the :27.3 first quarter mark but promptly moved back towards the pylons as the field paced into the stretch for the first time.

Timberline Court showed the way to half in :56 and three-quarters in 1:23.4 with At Last moving underway from fourth and Clintons Escape picking up his cover. The son of With Held-Bon Temps held off a quick-closing Clintons Escape by half a length for the season’s best 1:53 triumph with At Last just three-quarters of a length behind, finishing third for the second straight week, and Red Star Paylater fourth at the rail.

Timberline Court paid $6.40 to win as the 2-1 second choice. The five-year-old gelding improved his record to 6-1-1 in nine starts this season and pushed his 2010 earnings to $36,940 for Hudon and co-owner R. Lynn Kowalevsky of Airdrie, Alta. He notched his 20th career win from 41 starts and lifted his bankroll to $256,859.
