A set of series events went postward on a foggy Friday at Woodbine Mohawk Park, as male pacers squared off in a set of Pop Up Series divisions and the gals battled in the opening round of the Harvest Series.

Thersomthinggoinon, who was a 26-1 winner in last week’s opening leg of the Pop Up Series, came back to win at odds of 2-1 in Friday’s second leg for trainer/driver Beau Brown.

The two-year-old son of Artspeak-Bell Amis Love laid down fractions of :27.2, :57.2 and 1:26.1 over a track rated ‘Good’ with a one-second allowance.  He then kicked home in :28 to post the nose decision over Serious Mojo in 1:54.3.  Race favourite Dont Poke The Bear sat a pocket trip and settled for third prize.

Jennifer Brown, Hunter Holton and Chuckie Symes own the gelding who pushed his lifetime earnings over $20,000 with the win.

Better Sunset was sent off as the 2-5 favourite in the second division, and his deep stretch heroics earned him a second consecutive victory in the series.

James MacDonald tucked into an early three-hole with Better Sunset while Better Than Pride blasted to the lead from Post 7 and threw down fractions of :27, :57.1 and 1:26.1.  Better Sunset powered up late and used his :26.4 kicker to win by a head over Bettor Than Pride in 1:53.3.  Juju Hanover tagged along to finish third.

The Hunts – George, Kelli Ann and Greg – share ownership on the son of Bettors Delight-Sunset Filly.  Sent off as the 2-5 favourite, the Murray Brethour pupil improved his 2022 record to 2-0-2 from seven trips to the track.  He’s banked over $20,000 to date.

Im On The Edge used her rallying skills to claim a 1:53.1 victory for driver James MacDonald and trainer Anthony Montini in the lone division in the opening leg of the Harvest Series for three-year-old filly pacers.

The daughter of Sportswriter-Albany Hanover was in no hurry in the early going, but the same couldn’t be said for race favourite Girl Scout Cookie who took command and laid down fractions of :27, :55.4 and 1:24.3 before tiring in the lane.  Im On The Edge, who was ninth at the half, advanced on the rim in the back-half of the contest and used a :27.4 kicker to win by three lengths over Arizona in 1:53.1.  Queen Of Soul went a parked out trip to round out the top three.

Sent off at odds of 4-1, Im On The Edge nabbed her third win of the season for Big Als Stable of Woodbridge, Ont.  The $8,500 payday lifted her lifetime earnings to $34,792.
