Foiled Again Wins #97, 4,000 For Marohn

At the age of 13, Dragon Again gelding Foiled Again collected his 97th career win, as he paced to a wire-to-wire, 1:51.4 win during a $14,000 conditioned race at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono on Saturday, November 11. The following race, driver Jim Marohn Jr. won his 4,000th career race, as he piloted Big N Bad to victory in the second division of the $14,000 pace.

Amassing $7,550,278 through 299 starts in his career, this was the sixth win in 26 starts this season for Foiled Again, raising his season's earnings to $81,075 for owners Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, and JJK Stables LLC. He paid $6.40 to win. Jim Marohn Jr. was second with the 7-5 favourite Jacksrluckytoo.

Powering first over, Marohn won the following race with Big N Bad, a seven-year-old Badlands Hanover gelding conditioned by Rob Harmon for owner Vincent Laurenzo. The $4.40 winner was the 4,000th for Jim Marohn Jr.

Marohn, starting his career in 2002, is the son of longtime Yonkers and Roosevelt top-gun Jim Marohn Sr. He continues to add to his 2017 season – now at 440 victories and earnings of $4.5 million – as he continues in a fierce battle with Simon Allard for second-place in the Pocono Downs driving-win category, behind leader George Napolitano Jr.

The Wayfaring Man claimed victory off a pocket trip in Saturday's $17,000 pacing feature, winning as the favourite by three-quarters of a length in 1:52.2. Matt Kakaley handled the Dragon Again gelding for trainer Ron Burke and Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, and M 1 Stables LLC.
