Ladys Dude Prevails In Meadows Trot

Ladys Dude quarter-poled to the front for Dave Palone and had just enough late lick to hold off the hard-charging Rompaway Galaxy and capture Wednesday’s $22,500 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.

Ladys Dude thwarted the first-over challenge of Monte Cristo Spur as well as the Lightning Lane bid of Classicality. The four-year-old Victory Sam-Ladys Star gelding found the wire just in time to edge Rompaway Galaxy by a nose in 1:54.3 over a “good” surface. Classicality was a close-up third.

Ron Burke trains Ladys Dude, who now boasts $254,962 in career earnings, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Johnny Yoder.

Mike Wilder piloted four winners on the 15-race card while Jim Pantaleano and Palone each enjoyed a triple.
