Remembrance Day Pace In The Books

Published: November 11, 2013 03:26 pm EST

It was a cold and windy day Monday, November 11 at Exhibition Park Raceway, but that did not deter 91-year-old war veteran Robert Kyle from taking part in the winner’s circle presentation won by Ace On The River in the Remembrance Day Pace.

Local legion manager of Branch 58, Harold DeFazio was also on hand to take part in the presentation. Also, the Saint John Harness Horsemen executive members Sifroi Melanson and Dawn Hubbard presented the veteran with a year’s subscription to the Atlantic Post Calls.

Mark Haig drove Ace On The River to victory in wire-to-wire fashion, as he held off a late-closing Dance Hanover to win by a quarter length in 2:00. Todd Trites was the leading driver of the day as he reined home three winners on the eight-dash card.

Racing will return to Saint John on Saturday, presented by Horse Racing New Brunswick.
