The Saturday night feature event at Batavia Downs consisted of an evenly matched group of seven Open II pacers, vying for a purse of $8,000.

In a bang-bang finish it was Tanah Merah Farms' Shu Fu who got up in the final stride to score the 7-1 upset win in 1:55. Less than two lengths separated the entire field at the wire.

The even-money favourite, Golden Terror (John Cummings, Jr.), started from the rail and worked out the give-and-go with Cameloft (Shawn Gray) and set fractions of :27.4, :57.1, 1:25.4, while the eventual winner, Shu Fu, with Ray Fisher Jr. in the bike, was spotted third over.

Turning for home, Golden Terror started them on down the lane with a one-length lead, but it was the four-year-old son of Matts Scotter, Shu Fu, who stormed down the center of the racetrack for the head victory over Golden Terror. Cheyenne Cam (Tony Morgan) rallied for third at 25-1.

Shu Fu, who notched his fifth win of the 2012 campaign, is now two-for-two for trainer Ryan Swift. He raised his season's earnings to $32,684.

The fastest mile of the night belonged to Cam Patch, who scorched the first quarter in :26.3 and keep on going for a gate-to-wire score in a nice mile of 1:54.2 on a 50-degree night. Ray Fisher Jr. was at the controls for trainer Alex Giuliani.
