The Middlesex County Series continued on Saturday at Western Fair Raceway with Freddiesboybristle and Cracker Zack remaining perfect after the first two preliminary rounds.

Driven by Robert Shepherd in the first of three $8,000 second leg divisions for male trotters, Freddiesboybristle ($2.30) waited patiently in third before sweeping by pacesetter Uncle Jack at the third quarter mark and opening up six lengths on his foes down the lane. The three-year-old Ken Warkentin colt stopped the clock in 2:02.3 with Uncle Jack hanging on for second over Dunroven Cas El.

'Freddie' has now won half of his 12 career starts for trainer Suzy Kerwood and Guelph, Ont. owners Robert Robinson, Jacqueline Dinelle, M. Shawn Camp, and Steven Bray.

Leaving from post one, Cracker Zack ($4.50) quickly opened up a double-digit lead on his foes with trainer Carman Hie in the sulky, but that lead dwindled down to just half a length by the time he hit the wire in 2:01. Slight favourite Legal Herb closed the gap in second while J N Hugo finished 13-1/2 lengths back in third.

The sophomore son of Angus Hall, who is now three-for-eight in his career, is owned and bred by the Carman Hie Stable Inc. of Rockwood, Ont., J. Peter Kloepfer of Harley, Ont., and Blake Anthony of Millgrove, Ont.

The final and fastest division went to Brenwaycayne ($3.70), who romped to an 11 length score in 2:00.4 over Shallow Hal and Magical Merlin.

Trainer-driver Gary Rivest also co-owns the Thunder Road gelding, who notched his third win in 21 starts, with Marnie Bochenek of Waterdown, Ont. Brenwaycayne finished second in the opening leg of the series to Legal Herb.

The Middlesex County Series is for Ontario-sired trotters that are four years old and younger and non-winners of $10,000 lifetime as of midnight September 1, 2012. The $45,000 (added) final will be held next Saturday, November 17.
