Cam Cool Takes Rose Memorial Final

Cam Cool held off Yankee Sun to win the $8,475 David Rose Memorial Series Final, presented by Meridian Farms, on Sunday afternoon at Charlottetown Driving Park.

Terry Gallant drove eight-year-old Camluck gelding to the 1:58.1 victory for trainer Jonah Moase and Inverness, N.S. owners James and Ann Copley and Evan Gillis. Yankee Sun missed by half a length while Ultimate Faith finished third.

Cool Cam, who was a winner in the first leg of the series for $3,500 claimers on Oct. 28 at Summerside Raceway and finished second in round two on Nov. 4 at CDP, now boasts 16 wins from 31 starts this year.

Gallant came right back with pacing star Proven Lover to win the afternoon's $2,400 Preferred in 1:55.2 for owner Casey Gavin of Tignish, P.E.I. The win was Proven Lover's second in a row.

Keystone Nautilus and driver Lenny Myers went wire-to-wire upsetting in the $3,000 Rose Memorial Consolation for owner-trainer Shane Doyle of Charlottetown. The time of the mile was 2:01.1.

Brodie MacPhee had a grand slam on the day with four trips to the winner's
circle.
