Boiling Oar Repeats In Fraser Open

Boiling Oar ($4.70) has established himself as the best in the West so far this fall, earning his fourth Open win in six tries at the current Fraser Downs meeting with a 1:53.1 score in Sunday afternoon's (Nov. 10) $12,000 feature.

William Tainsh was patient early on with the four-year-old Shadow Play gelding, and the pair contently stalked from fourth while Mach Steady (Billy Davis Jr.) controlled early splits of :26.3 and :56.2. Boiling Oar angled second-over on the backstretch to slipstream the cover of Peace Out Posse (Scott Knight), working to within 2-1/2 lengths of a pressured pace past three-quarters in 1:24.4 and towed into striking range on the far turn.

With just over a furlong to go, Tainsh pointed Boiling Oar three-wide, and he swept to the lead just after straightening for home. He repelled a stand-side rally from Iwontdothatagain (Kelly Hoerdt) by a half length for the 17th win of his career. Peace Out Posse finished an engulfed third.
