The trip was sweet and the end result was even sweeter for Justalittleluck in Monday evening’s $7,000 Preferred 3 for pacers at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Nick Steward tucked into an early two-hole with Justalittleluck, who was allowed to stalk the pacesetting Stoney Durkin through first half fractions of :28 and :59.1 before popping the pocket and pressing the leader to the three-quarter pole in 1:27.3. Justalitteluck’s :28.3 closing quarter was enough to earn him the win by 1-1/2 lengths over race favourite Lawmen Reign in 1:56.2. Third prize was earned by Pacific Oak.
Sent off at odds of 3-1, the eight-year-old son of Northern Luck-Sunnie Corleone won for the seventh time this season for owner Amy O’Toole of London, Ontario. The 33-time winner is quickly closing in on $240,000 in career earnings.
