Sent postward as the longest shot on the board 23-1 in the top pacing class at Northside Downs on Saturday despite a runner-up finish in last weekend's feature, Schooner scored his 30th career victory over defending champion Junebugs Baby.

Schooner and driver Alex MacQuarrie converted a pocket trip into a 1:59 triumph in the $1,300 Winners Over while favourite Junebugs Baby and Fraser Turnbull closed from the back of the pack to place one length back. Finishing over six lengths behind, the Redmond Doucet-driven Art I Special recovered from a break in stride and came on for third.

Schooner paid $48.30 to win. The five-year-old son of American Ideal has won three of his last four races and eight times this year for trainer Joseph Poirier and owner Anthony Beaton of Inverness, N.S.
