Three-year-old trotting filly Rockin With Dewey front-stepped her way into the spotlight at Flamboro Downs on Saturday, winning the featured $10,000 Preferred 2 Trot for the Baillargeon brothers.
With Mario Baillargeon driving, race favourite Rockin With Dewey prevailed in 1:58.1 by three-quarters of a length over 38-1 longshot Long Ago and Bruce Richardson. Onthemoneyside came from last to show over three lengths back for Scott Young.
Rockin With Dewey paid $4.10 to win.
Trainer Ben Baillargeon shares ownership of the Deweycheatumnhowe filly with breeder Diane Ingham of Mount Pleasant, Ont. The Celias Counsel Series winner and Kentucky Sires Stakes Championship runner-up has earned all six of her wins and the bulk of her $163,020 bankroll during her sophomore campaign.
In the $5,000 Preferred 3, Oaklea Torpedo ($19.20) converted a two-hole trip into a 2:01.4 victory for driver Thomas Smith and trainer Jayne Walker.
