Mach It Big Wires Preferred Pacers

Mach It Big and driver Nick Steward took top honours in the featured $10,000 Preferred 2 Pace at Flamboro Downs on Sunday, winning in front-stepping fashion.

Mach It Big left from post four and carved out fractions of :27.4, :57.4 and 1:26.1 en route to the 1:55 victory. Sent postward as the 6-1 fourth choice in the field of nine, Mach It Big returned $15.10 to his backers. Royal Outlook and J.R. Plante finished just over one length behind in second while Spartacus Jim and David Dowling was third.

Patrick Shepherd trains the son of Mach Three, who has won seven of his 33 starts while earning $73,718 in purses during his five-year-old campaign. His 21st lifetime win lifted his bankroll to $309,313. Stephen Morton of Windsor, N.S. is the winning owner.

Driver Doug McNair swept a pair of $5,000 Preferred 3 events earlier on the card with Shaun McDonald trainee Lucky Terror (1:55.2) and Twin B Legend (1:57), who was making his first start from the Ron Adams barn.
