The third session of the 2010 Harrisburg Yearling is now in the books, with another 329 youngsters going through the ring on Wednesday
. A three-day total of $29,508,200 has been shelled out by buyers, which calculates into an average sale price of $34,921.
The highest priced yearlings during the Wednesday session sold for $120,000, and one of them was purchased by former O’Brien Award-winning reinsman Paul MacDonell.
The resident of Guelph, ON shelled out the cash to purchase My Heart Has Wings. The son of Jeremes Jet-Heart Ofthe Matter, who sold as Hip #732, is a half-brother to Heart Escape (1:53.3 - $95,555) and a three-quarter brother to O.S.S. graduate Western Heart (1:55.1 - $82,216). The colt was part of the Spring Haven Farms consignment.
Also selling for $120,000 was Ticket It, a son of Dragon Again-Misty Speed. Kelly O’Donnell of Sagamore Hills, OH signed the sale slip on the youngster, who is the second foal out of a mare who has already produced Woodrow Wilson elimination winner Powerful Mist (1:51.4 - $136,550). The son of Powerful Toy has rattled off five consecutive wins including scores in the $100,000 DSBF Final at Dover Downs on October 25 and his $54,650 Matron Stakes elimination over that oval on November 6. The colt sold as part of the Winbak Farm consignment.
The auction runs through Saturday, November 13 at Harrisburg's Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex Sales Arena. Over 2,200 horses ranging from yearlings and weanlings to racehorses and broodmares, stallions and stallion shares will hit the auction block.
