Outlaw Playmymovie remained undefeated at the inaugural Desert Park meet as he scored his fifth straight victory in the $17,000 Open Handicap Pace on Sunday, Nov. 1.
Fresh off a victory in the B.C. Bred Stakes for four-year-olds on Monday and getting the inside post racing with a $25,000 claiming tag, Outlaw Playmymovie was the 1-5 favourite with Brandon Campbell in the bike. The bettors' choice looped to the lead after a 29-second first panel ahead of early leaver Galdalf and driver/trainer Nick Roland, who sent out four of the six starters in the field. Once on top, there was no stopping Outlaw Playmymovie, who carved out middle splits of :58.2 and 1:28.3 then stepped away to a 3-1/2-length victory in 1:57.2 with a :28.4 final quarter over the "good" track. Alilthundadownunda (Dustin Poloway) out-finished stablemate Galdalf for the runner-up honours.
Outlaw Playmymovie is one of just 35 horses in North America with 13 or more wins on the season. Rebecca Kanak trains the Shadow Play-Pure Movement gelding, who has earned $86,160 in 22 starts this year for owners Trevor Williams of Winnipeg, Man., Aurel Vodon of Virden, Man., and Morning Line Inc. of Airdrie, Alta.
