Northfield Park’s aptly named Election Night Series features its $15,000 final on Tuesday (November 4) -- Election Night.
The final is a competitive field of nine trotters, which are the highest money earners throughout the preceding four legs. Two horses enter the final undefeated in the series. It is the 10th of a 15-race program with a beginning post time of 6 p.m.
Fridayscomin draws the rail and has been named the 5-2 early favourite. The sophomore is owned by Millersburg, Ohio’s Kenneth Hostetler. His trainer, Roleta Stutzman, listed the driving services of Robin Miller.
Fridayscomin started in two of the four legs of the series, winning both times, including his most recent six and a half-length romp in 1:57.3. That time represents the fastest mile trotted by anyone throughout the series. Despite two wins in a row, Fridayscomin has struggled with breaking issues throughout 2014, including going off stride in the $200,000 Ohio Sires Stakes Final and $30,667 Ohio Breeders Championship, the two races leading up to the start of this series.
Fridayscomin enters this event with three wins this year in 14 starts and a lifetime bankroll of $29,281. He is evidently sharp, as his 1:57.3 lifetime mark came in his most recent effort.
Spec T appears to be Fridayscomin’s toughest competition. He carries a 7-2 morning line and has three wins in as many starts throughout the Election Night Series. He starts for owner/trainer June De Russel of Millington, Michigan. Tim Driver will be in his sulky.
