Giddy Up Lucky extended his winning streak to eight-in-a-row thanks to his score in the $35,000 Preferred Open Handicap pace on Monday at Dover Downs.

Eric Goodell sent Giddy Up Lucky to the early lead, and the Camluck-Sweet Art gelding held six rivals at bay en route to a 1:51.1 victory over Thats Justice and Booze Cruzin in the featured event. Josh Green trains the pacer for owners David Rovine and Baron Racing Stable.

Barber Pole took no prisoners for driver Montrell Teague en route to capturing the $32,500 Delaware Special Handicap. The Gary and Barbara Iles-bred and owned son of Badlands Hanover won for the sixth time this year. Sniper Hall was second best and Light up The Sky rounded out the top three finishers.

The fastest mile on Monday’s card was turned in by Schoolkids, who sprinted to a 1:50.4 score in the $24,000 Three and Four-Year-Old Open Handicap. Ron Pierce, who won four races on opening day, guided the pacer to the win for the Bulletproof Enterprises of Boca Raton, FL.
