Trotting stallion Ecurie D DK will have a new home north of the border starting in the 2027 breeding season.
The Ecurie D Syndicate has announced that world champion and 2022 Dan Patch Award winner, Ecurie D DK, 1:49.1 ($1,655,480) will stand the 2027 breeding season and beyond at Seelster Farms in Lucan, Ont. The sire of this year’s world champion two-year- old colt trotter Lifetime Dreamer, 1:51.1 ($239,130), Ecurie D DK will stand for an advertised service fee of $7,500.
For the past four seasons, Ecurie D DK stood at New Jersey's Southwind Farm along side three of the finest trotting stallions in the sport. He now gets his own unique opportunity to move to one of the most prestigious farms in Ontario where he will have the ability to create his own path toward success in the rich Ontario Sires Stakes program.
“I am thrilled that Ecurie D will be able to continue his stallion career at such a well respected and prominent breeding farm in Ontario at Seelster Farms," said Kevin Greenfield, Syndicate Manager for the Ecurie D Syndicate. "He will now have the best opportunity going forward to get the number of mares he needs to become a top producing trotting stallion both in Ontario and North America. He has proven already from a very limited small first crop that he can sire a world champion and grand circuit level trotters. I have no doubt that the change in jurisdiction to Ontario will allow him now to reach his full potential. Seelster Farms will breed some of their best trotting mares to support him.”
Seelster Farms' Ann Straatman agreed. "We are thrilled to be able to add a trotting stallion of such high calibre as Ecurie D DK to our stallion roster. I feel that, fully supported, he will likely become a leading trotting sire not only in Ontario but also on the Grand Circuit as well.”
