Jodie Cullen, Canada's leading trainer in wins this season, added another three to her tally with a trio of winners, all driven by her son, Travis, on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at Flamboro Downs.
Ariels Bet ($3.50) kicked things off for Team Cullen, winning the sixth race from the front by four lengths in 1:55.3. The win was the sophomore's second of the year in 15 attempts for Jodie Cullen, who owns and bred the filly.
The Cullens went back-to-back as Waitinonawoman ($2.20) brushed and crushed in the seventh race, stopping the timer in 1:55.4 with a 2-1/2-length margin. The five-year-old mare is now 10-for-31 this year for owners Ron, Jodie, and Travis Cullen.
After a place finish in the eighth race, Team Cullen's Yourtheone went gate-to-wire in 1:56.4 for a 3-1/4-length victory in the finale. Yourtheone, a seven-year-old gelding also owned by Ron, Jodie, and Travis Cullen, improved to six-for-21 on the season.
Jodie Cullen now has 172 training victories this season in 985 starts, putting her 42 wins clear of Kyle Fellows in the national trainers' standings. She also leads all conditioners at Flamboro with 53 tallies, 12 more than Francis Guillemette.
