Discus Hanover charged late to capture the featured $7,000 Open I Trot at Vernon Downs on Saturday (Oct. 9).
Credit List took the lead just before hitting the first quarter in :26.3. Lucky June Bug came first up and put the pressure on going down the backstretch. Credit List led to the half in :56 and was first to three-quarters in 1:25.1.
As they reached the stretch, Discus Hanover ($10.60) popped out of the pocket and went flying by to win easily in 1:54.1. Double Dealing fired late to finish second. Credit List had to settle for third.

Discus Hanover is a four-year-old gelding by Credit Winner. He is owned by Phillip Hale and trainer David Dewhurst. It was his ninth win of the season and his 25th victory.
Justin Huckabone is having a season to remember at Vernon Downs as he drove four more winners on the card. Huckabone got his wins with Quaker Hill ($4.50), Crossfit Mouse ($4.10), Jericho Willie ($4.20), and Lyons Pegasus ($3.80). He won four races on Friday as well giving him eight wins on the weekend
