Deuces And Jacks went the distance, holding off the fast-closing even-money favourite Blissfull Breeze and pocket-sitter Daibin N to win the featured $13,000 Preferred Pace at Sudbury Downs on Saturday night.

With the inside post advantage, Deuces And Jacks took control of the six-horse field from the word 'go' and laid down fractions of :28.1, :56.2 and 1:25 en route to the 1:54.2 triumph. Finishing just a half-length behind were Blissfull Breeze (Wayne MacLean), who trailed early on and rallied three-wide past the third quarter station, and the pocket-pulling Daibin N (Mike MacNeill).

Deuces And Jacks paid $11.40 to win as the 9-2 third choice. The seven-year-old gelded son of Million Dollar Cam-Fit N Fast is trained by France MacLean and is owned by driver Paul MacLean and Glenview Livestock Ltd. of Wallenstein, Ont. He recorded his fifth win in 23 seasonal starts.

The Late Bloomer Series kicked off on Saturday with three $7,500 divisions for non-winners of one race or $15,000 (fillies $20,000) lifetime as of Sept. 24, 2011. The winners were: Brew and Mike Nobel in 1:59; Aligned Hanover and Jason Ryan in 1:58.2; and Princesse Dorleans and David Dowling in 1:58.
