Always At My Place, Consolidator Win At Yonkers

Always at My Place and Consolidator were the standouts Saturday, October 7, winning Yonkers Raceway’s $50,000 co-featured Open Handicaps.

The weekly featured pace had odds-on, pole-sitting Always at My Place stuff Thisjetsabookin in behind, get no pressure early, then finish off of fractions of :27, :56.2, and 1:23.4 to win in 1:51.4.

He defeated first-up Scott Rocks by three-quarters of a length, with Gratian Hanover, 66-1 Theartofconfusion A and Cooperstown settling for the minors.

For Always At My Place, a six-year-old Always a Virgin gelding co-owned by Ron Burke, Weaver Bruscemi, Larry Karr and Phil Collura, it was his eighth win in 22 seasonal starts, and his 35th in 99 starts overall. Driven by George Brennan, he paid $3.40.

The week’s marquee trot went to Consolidator—from post position No. 2—using a parked-out Money Maven as a pick through intervals of :28.1, :57.4, and 1:26.4, then hold off a pocketed Cash Me Out by a nose in 1:55.2.

Ameliosi, In Secret, and Lookslikeachpndale came away with the lesser envelopes, with International Trot-bound In Secret having his winning streak end at six. Even-money Rubber Duck raced parked with cover, fading to sixth. .

For fourth-choice Consolidator, a four-year-old daughter of Triumphant Caviar co-owned by Rene Allard of Allard Racing, Bruce Soulsby, Laura Baker and Alan Weisenberg, it was his fifth win in 19 tries this season. Driven by Greg Merton, he paid $14.40 to win.
