Hello Carlo trotted home a winner Monday evening at Northfield Park, and what made is so special was the fact it was his 50th lifetime tally.
The classy veteran got away fifth before making a first-over bid in the backstretch and brushing to the top for driver Josh Sutton. They led the field past the three-quarter marker in 1:27.4 before using a :30.3 closing quarter to win by 4-1/2 lengths over Tory in 1:58.3.
Larry Clabaugh trains Hello Carlo for owner Mario Caponi of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. The nine-year-old son of Carry The Message-Last Turn is just shy of $250,000 in lifetime earnings.
