The $9,500 Open Pace highlighted the Saturday, Oct. 7 program at Northville Downs, and it did not disappoint.
It was a race with a lot of early action that resulted in closer Another Daily Copy and driver Drew Neill storming home to win in 1:54.4, the fastest mile on the night.
As the field left the car, the speedy Coalford Bythesea shot out for the lead but was tackled on the backstretch by Oh K Man past the quarter in :27.1. Another Daily Copy got parked out in sixth to the quarter but immediately pushed forward going to the half in :56.4. The 10-year-old gelding then cleared going to the backstretch, tripped the beam to three-quarters in 1:25.2 and went on to win, holding on by a half-length over runner-up Coalford Bythesea, who shook loose late. Panther Time closed well for third.
For Another Daily Copy (Somebeachsomewhere - Court Stenographer), it was his 38th career victory and he now totes career purse earnings of $742,571. He is owned by Melvin Fink and trained by Paul Holzman.
Driver Kody Massey had a hat trick and Lindsay Moen and Justin Irvine had driving doubles. Paul Cloer Jr. had a training double on the night.
