It has been reported that a groom passed away last week after having sustained injuries which stemmed from a September incident involving a four-year-old racehorse.
An article by ABC affiliate KSTP TV explains that 56-year-old thoroughbred groom Jorge Ortega was involved in a September 12 incident at Canterbury Park in Minnesota.
According to a Canterbury spokesman, Ortega, of Laredo, Texas, was crushed against a wall after the thoroughbred he was tending to reared up in a saddling area.
Ortega passed away Monday, September 30 at the Hennepin County Medical Center.
