Odds-on favourite Euchred cleared command past the quarter, opened a four-length lead and coasted to the finish to take the $1,150 Winners-Over Pace at Inverness Raceway on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Driver Lanny Hanscombe hustled the Walter Walker trainee to the front passing a :28.1 opening quarter and faced little challenge. Euchred led by a widening margin through middle of splits of :58.1 and 1:28.3 before strolling into the stretch and hitting the finish in 1:57.3 over Dream On Dream On, who moved first over past the half and narrowed on the pacesetter’s lead to finish second by three-quarter lengths. R Es Aiden took third.
A seven-year-old gelding by Shadow Play, Euchred has won eight races from 20 starts this season and 51 from 152 overall, earning $126,499. The $3.10 winner competes for owner Kayla Habicht Walker.
