Alberta invader River Lass rebounded from her first loss since the spring last weekend in the $12,500 Fillies & Mares Open Pace at Fraser Downs with a wire-to-wire victory on Friday night.
Driver Tim Brown fired River Lass ($4.30) to the lead from the outside post five this time out and carved out panels of :26.4, :56.1, and 1:24.4 en route to a 1:54.1 triumph. Pocket-sitter Jans Rich Girl, driven by Scott Knight, and the Jim Marino-driven Just Fiction, who was bothered by an early breaker and later barred out down the stretch, followed one and a half lengths behind in second and third.
Last week's loss saw River Lass' eight-race win streak come to an end, but she got back on track tonight, winning for the 13th time in 19 seasonal starts.
The five-year-old As Promised mare is owned by trainer Kelly Hoerdt and Blair Corbeil, both of Beaumont, Alta.
