A top-class winner last week in his local debut, Pirate Hanover and Aaron Byron grabbed the winner's share of the loot once again in the $11,486 Open Pace on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Vernon Downs.

Primo Uomo (Leon Bailey) took the early lead but Pirate Hanover went on by and led to the quarter in :26.4.  They slowed things down with a 29-second quarter to be first to the half in :55.4, picking up the pace slightly while maintaining command through a 1:23.3 third station.

As they reached the stretch, the attack was on from the enemy as Primo Uomo and Galactic Storm (Jimmy Whittemore) went all out after the leader. Pirate Hanover repelled those rivals, winning easily in 1:51. Primo Uomo was next best, while Galactic Storm completed the bottom of the triactor ticket.

Pirate Hanover is a six-year-old horse by Captaintreacherous - Paris Hanover, owned and trained by Aaron Byron.  It was his eighth win this season and his 17th career victory, with earnings now over the $260,000 mark.

Vernon Downs returns to live harness racing on Friday, Oct. 11, starting at 6:05 p.m.
