Filly Forty Seven will look to live up to her name in the Thursday evening top class at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino as she looks for win 47 of her career.
Charlottetown Driving Park has 10 dashes scheduled for a 6 p.m. opening post time with Filly Forty Seven the favourite from post three in the $2,850 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 event.
Marc Campbell trains and drives the Proven Lover eight-year-old Atlantic Triple Crown-winning mare for Alan MacDonald, Cory Carver and Katelyn Smallwood. A graduate of the 2015 Atlantic Classic Yearling Sale where she sold as Hip 47, the mare has earned $286,979 in her life with 46 wins to her credit. Filly Forty Seven was a winner her last start in 1:55.3 in line to Campbell.
The Lady Sheriff has post two, also from the Campbell barn, with Jason Hughes picking up the drive for Elizabeth Courtney of Maddox Cove, N.L. Ubettimagoodone (to be driven by Gilles Barrieau) has the inside post with Elm Grove Mistress (David Dowling) from post four.
The "Post Time Picks" likes the post five starter JM Sportsfan (Steven Shepherd) on top from the Harold Shepherd barn: “Take a closer peek at the line from last week and you’ll see JM Sportsfan closed in :28.3 to nab the show spot. She’s on the outside looking in again but could land on the scene late and get all the marbles this time.”
Saltwater Storm is the favourite in the Race 2 Wolseley Pace with Brodie MacPhee supplying the drive for trainer Tom Weatherbie and owners Kyle Gardiner, Mike Currie and Jerry MacKinnon. The Stonebridge Terror filly has post four in the $2,150 class.
The evening will also feature two Matinee Track Finals after Race 2 and 4 on the card.
