COSA, TROT Fantasy Stable Update

With the Ontario Sires Stakes regular season wrapped up and the Grand Circuit in high gear at The Red Mile, the standings for the 2021 COSA and TROT Magazine Fantasy Stables are approaching some very crucial events.

Jeff Davis maintained his COSA Fantasy Stable lead throughout the month of September. While stable standout Lawless Shadow was injured, competitors the likes of Scarlett Hanover and Fashion Frenzie picked up Grand Circuit victories to keep Davis' JJDCHAMP Stables atop the leaderboard with $2.84 million bankroll. Francine Larocque's Pattee Lane Stables and Des Tackoor's Probono are next best, only $122 apart from each other and $52,000 off the leader.

The COSA Fantasy Stable Contest, which has prizes for the top 20 finishers, and carries a Grand Prize worth approximately $4,000, runs from July 1, 2021 through the end of the OSS Super Finals.

Brought to you by the Central Ontario Standardbred Association, and administered by TROT Magazine and Standardbred Canada, the fantasy pool is based on the 2021 OSS season, and Ontario-sired two and three-year-olds based on their overall earnings for the year through the contest period.

On the other hand, it was a September to remember for Aaron Skilton of Barrie, Ont. His Somestablesomewhere made huge gains thanks to solid efforts from Perfect Sting, Lyons Sentinel and Ocean Rock over the month. His stable's $4.85 million total tops the TROT Fantasy Stable Contest. Russ Gale's GUSSR Racing was in second a month ago and remains in the pocket spot some $56,000 off the leader, while Noah Whebby's Whebby's Racing Stable is currently in third with $4.78 million.

The TROT Fantasy Stable Contest is based on total earnings of selected horses and five percent of the earnings of selected trainers and drivers between May 16 and Dec. 31, 2021.

For the purposes of the fantasy bankroll, the winners (horses only) of the 2021 Breeders Crown Finals will each receive a $200,000 contest bankroll bonus. Also, in the two-year-old categories, contestants were allowed to select two horses.

At the end of the year, the winner of the contest will receive entry into and travel to the 2022 World Harness Handicapping Championship, a prize valued at (approx) $1,300.
