New Speed Badge For ‘Worldclass’

In her first start since finishing sixth in the $436,000 final of the Elegantimage Stake, Worldclass Hanover got up in the shadow of the wire to win the Tuesday evening feature at Mohawk Racetrack.

In rein to trainer/driver Rick Zeron, Worldclass Hanover got away fifth in the $18,000 trotting tilt while Amoureuse Hanover rolled the field through fractions of :28, :57.1 and 1:26. Worldclass Hanover caught cover in the second quarter before making a three-wide move to go after the leader at the three-quarter pole. A :27.2 closing quarter was just enough for Worldclass Hanover to prevail by a half-length margin over Amoureuse Hanover. Moonlight Cocktail was well-beaten third.

Sent off as the 1-5 favourite, the three-year-old daughter of Cantab Hall-Won An Done improved her 2016 record to 4-1-0 from 13 trips to the track. The five-time winner pushed her lifetime earnings over $100,000 with the win for owner Richard Berthiaume of Pointe-Aux-Trembles, QC.
