The freshman trotter Tillios Action is now perfect in two starts at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono, defeating older horses in the $15,000 featured trot in 1:56.4 on a cold and rainy Tuesday afternoon (Oct. 4).
The baby son of E L Titan – Nothing But Nice handled the messy conditions like an old pro, going right to the lead, then holding off pocket-sitting Tranquility K by one and a quarter lengths while coming his back quarter in :29. Jim Pantaleano drove the winner, now a winner of three of five career starts, for trainer John Grasso and his John Grasso Stable Inc.
Driver Tyler Buter took both ends of the Late Double, including the last race with 40-time career winner Rich And Miserable, to finish with four victories on the day, tops among the local ranks Tuesday.
Racing resumes on Saturday at Pocono’s usual post time of 1:30 p.m., with Ruthless Hanover assigned the outermost slot in the $25,000 fast-class handicap pace’s field of seven. ”Ruthless” will be going for his third straight victory after setting all the pace in finishing second to Allywag Hanover’s equaling of Wiggle It Jiggleit’s 1:47.3 track record mile at Philly on September 4. Program pages for all Pocono races are or will be available at the PHHA website.
