Yonkers Raceway’s all-age track-record-holder returned to town Thursday night and promptly hit a number.
The Real One (Jason Bartlett), whose life-best 1:50 back in November of 2016 remains Westchester’s fastest-ever effort, finished second in Thursday’s $23,000 finale. Though faltering late in the lane as the 1-2 favourite, the runner-up finish and subsequent $5,750 pay envelope pushed his career account to $1,004,270. After 174 starts, the resume reads 45 wins, 31 seconds and 26 thirds.
The eight-year-old Mach Three gelding is owned by Helene Filion and trained by Pat Lachance.
Driver Jim Marohn, Jr. won four of the evening’s dozen races, including Prairie Panther ($21.80) in the last of the night.
