Wins have been tough to come by in recent months for pacing mare Sandbetweenurtoes, but Saturday night at Flamboro Downs she took advantage of a wild battle and came away victorious in the rich affair.

Alfie Carroll got away fourth with the Richard Moreau pupil, who watched Act Now and Waasmula wage war to the quarter pole in :27.1. Waasmula eventually worked her way to the front, and she proceeded to lead the group to the half in :55.4. She was prompted along by the first-over Lady Shadow, who supplied second-over cover to Sandbetweenurtoes.

Yagonnakissmeornot made a wild, three-wide charge at the mid-way point of the mile, and it soon became a four-wide skirmish when Katie Said roared up widest of all on the way to the three-quarter pole. Lady Shadow showed a short lead past that marker in 1:24.3, but she lacked staying power and faded in the lane. Sandbetweenurtoes found clearance in the stretch and used her :28.3 closing quarter to prevail by 1-1/2 lengths over Katie Said in 1:53.2. Yagonnakissmeornot survived a tough trip to finish third.

Brad Grant of Milton, ON owns the four-year-old daughter of Somebeachsomewhere-Als Girl, who was sent off as a 6-1 outsider. It was the third win of the 2015 campaign for the 11-time winner who sent her cash stash over $450,000 with the victory.
