Red Star Hottie led a full field of pacers from wire-to-wire in Saturday night's $12,000 Open for fillies and mares at Fraser Downs

James Burke put Red Star Hottie on the point and the daughter of As Promised-Whitehorse Fever led the way to the :27.3 opening quarter before taking a :30-second breather in the second interval.
As the field approached the half, Greek Beach (Scott Knight) angled out from fifth flushing last week's winner Furious Five (Serge Masse) out from third but the defending champ failed to chip away at Red Star Hottie’s lead as she sprinted to the third quarter in 1:24.2.
Using a :28.3 final frame, Red Star Hottie charged home to win in a career-best clocking of 1:53.1 by two and a half lengths.
Modern Legacy (Keith Clark) finished second off a pocket trip and Judges Acenthehole (Jim Marino) rallied to grab third edging out Furious Five by a quarter-length.
Scoring her third win in nine tries this year, Red Star Hottie lifted her earnings to $27,860. Overall, the four-year-old mare has won 12 times and earned $159,650 in wages. Robert Merschback handles the training duties for Surrey’s Robert Murphy.
