Last second heroics were used by Andover America to bail out the favourite players who made the photogenic gelding the 4-5 choice in Monday’s $38,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Racetrack
.
Andover America was allowed to settle far off the speed – eighth, in fact – while stablemate Kashs Caviar ripped through fractions of :26.1, :55.3 and 1:23.3. Andover America, who was still eighth on the outside for driver Mario Baillargeon at the three-quarter pole, uncorked a :27.2 closing panel which was good enough to earn him the half-length score over Tall Cotton in 1:52.4. Kashs Caviar held on bravely to finish third.
Ben Baillargeon trains the six-year-old son of Andover Hall-Armbro Array for Mc Trade Enterprises Inc of Davie, FL. The win improved the gelding’s 10-6-3 in 23 starts, and it helped increase his lifetime earnings to $448,421.
