Standardbred Canada (SC) is excited to announce a change to the Owner Recognition Program, which has been redesigned to acknowledge leading owners from racetracks across the country.
Starting in 2024, leading owners will be selected based on statistics at each Canadian racetrack. The top owner by wins, followed by seconds, thirds, and earnings, if necessary, will be recognized from all Canadian racetracks (excluding fairs and limited meets). Partnerships, stables and individuals will each be treated as single entities with no combined wins. Eligibility aligns with current O’Brien Awards criteria.
In January, SC will reveal all leading owners on the Standardbred Canada website. Recipients will receive a custom plaque and a complimentary ticket to the O’Brien Awards, where they’ll be celebrated with a presentation and a tribute video. Those attending will be honoured on stage.
These changes, approved by the O’Brien Awards Committee and Board of Directors, will debut at the highly anticipated 36th O’Brien Awards on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025 at the Hilton Mississauga/Meadowvale in Mississauga, Ont.
