Murmur Hanover overcame his outside post eight assignment in the $11,000 Preferred 2 Handicap Trot on Saturday night (October 29) at Flamboro Downs, scoring in front-end fashion for driver Billy Davis Jr.
Returning to Flamboro Downs where he won back-to-back Preferreds in September after little success at Mohawk Racetrack, Murmur Hanover trotted out to the lead during a :27.3 opening and carved out middle splits of :57 and 1:27.1 while rebuffing the first-over challenger Big Rich (Travis Henry) en route to the 1:56.4 victory. Delcrest Massy (Alfie Carroll) followed one and three-quarter lengths behind off a pocket trip while Call Me Richard (J Harris) rallied wide around Big Rich to come on for third.
Murmur Hanover paid $7.50 to win as the 5-2 second choice to Racing Under Saddle champion Lexis D J, who finished fifth.
The win was the fifth this year from 32 starts for the six-year-old Majestic Son gelding, who has banked $81,660 in 2016 and $732,109 lifetime.
Richard Moreau trains Murmur Hanover for owner Richard Berthiaume of Pointe-Aux-Trembles, Que.
