Still winning in sub-1:50 fashion in his 10-year-old campaign, American History showed his back class as he sprinted off cover to take a $30,000 Pop-Up Series final featured on Friday, Oct. 3 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Joining the conditioned pacing series last week for a leg two victory, 1-2 favourite American History and driver Dale Spence tracked third-over from the backfield at the three-eighths mark and kicked home in :26.4 to go by late leader Myultimate Snowy A (Bob McClure) for the 1:49.4 victory. Arties Deal (Louis-Philippe Roy) split rivals and bested Myultimate Snowy A in a place photo 1-1/4 lengths behind the popular winner.

MacKenzie Spence trains American History, a four-time winner this year in 16 starts, for owner Patrick Hill of Fredericton, N.B.

The American Ideal-Perfect Touch gelding, who took his lifetime mark of 1:47 at The Meadowlands as a three-year-old and claimed a Breeders Crown title at Mohawk the next year when trained by Tony Alagna, now boasts 52 career victories and $1,935,345 in purse earnings.

American History paid $3.10 to win.

The series was for male pacers that started for a purse of $12,000 or less in their last three starts, with non-winners of $25,000 in a minimum of 10 starts in 2025 also eligible. Winners of more than $45,000 in 2025 were not eligible.

As one ended, another one began. The next Pop-Up Series put together by Mohawk's race office is for female pacers that were starters for a purse of $10,000 or less in their last three starts, with non-winners of $30,000 in a minimum of 10 starts in 2025 also eligible. Winners of more than $40,000 in 2025 are not eligible.

The first leg included two $15,000 divisions, which were won by trainer Daniel Walker's homebred three-year-old filly Cold Creek Fuego ($22.60) in a new lifetime mark of 1:50.4 with Bob McClure driving and the Eric Nadeau-trained six-year-old mare Sauble Amber ($10.90) in 1:53 with Louis-Philippe Roy in the bike for owner Michel Lagace.
