Sophomore pacer Bettim Again delivered on his 1-9 pari-mutuel promise with a wire-to-wire victory in Sunday's featured Winners Over at Truro Raceway.
Todd Trites put the Malicious gelding, who had faced Grand Circuit competition this summer, on the lead in Truro's $2,000 top class and carved out panels of :27.1, :55.1 and 1:25.3 en route to the 3-1/2-length victory in 1:54.2. Harry G (Ernest Laffin) chased Bettin Again home in second-place after rallying three-wide down the backstretch around the parked out American Risk, who was coming off back-to-back wins in the top class and faded to fifth. Lady N Paradise (David Carey) finished third, 14 lengths behind.
George Rennison was the winning trainer as Bettim Again notched his fifth victory from 16 starts this year and bumped his seasonal earnings to $44,349.
Bettin Again is owned by breeder Jeffrey Lilley of Charlottetown, P.E.I., along with partners Christina Lecky of Summerside, P.E.I., Charlottetown's D. Blair Maclauchlan, and Ian MacDonald of Lower Sackville, N.S.
