Ross MacInnis mapped out a perfect trip for Artgentina in Sunday’s Dr. Jim MacLean Remembrance Pace at Inverness Raceway, and the gelding had no problem taking the
checkered flag in the $2,500 feature.
Artgentina, a six-year-old son of Artiscape, stalked Colum Magic (Lewis MacDonell) through splits of :28.3, :57.2 and 1:27.2 before finding clearance and then using a :30-second final frame en route to the one-length decision. Aahm Cruisin (Gary Delaney) was next best, with Bryson Seelster (Ryan Campbell) rounding out the top three finishers.
It was the third consecutive victory for Artgentina, who hangs his harness bag in the barn of trainer Frank MacInnis. The 19-time winner, who is owned by Robert Siteman of Fall River, NS, went past the $80,000 mark in lifetime earnings with the win.
