Saulsbrook Tsunami Scores Big In Autumn Series Final

Saulsbrook Tsunami rode into the winner's circle at The Raceway at Western Fair District like a wave on Tuesday evening, Oct. 29, winning his first career race in the $23,400 Autumn Series final.

The series featured two and three-year-old Ontario-sired horses and geldings with a field of six going to the gate in race 10. 

Brett MacDonald took the Ronald MacDonald student to the gate on the rail. Ashers Basher (J Harris) was early to leave with Peloton Seelster (Paul Mackenzie) at his heels. Peloton Seelster took the field to the first quarter in :28.1, followed by Ashers Basher in second and Saulsbrook Tsunami in third. After the :59.2 half, Saulsbrook Tsunami met Peloton Seelster on even terms and they matched wheels up the backstretch. Nearing the three-quarters in 1:27.3, Saulsbrook Tsunami pulled away and he kept going to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:57.2. Convoy Twenty Two (Daryl Thiessen) closed sharply to take second and Wayne Stone (Peter Core) completed the show ticket.

Brett MacDonald, Brent MacLennan, Charlie Fitzpatrick and G Thanks Stable co-own Saulsbrook Tsunami, a sophomore gelded son of McWicked-Atlanta Girl. He won his first career race. In 17 lifetime starts, Saulsbrook Tsunami has earned $21,935. He paid $7.10 to win.
