Seelster Farms has announced the addition of the talented and impeccably-bred trotter Federal Flex to its stallion roster starting with the 2010 breeding season
.
Like Muscle Hill, Mr Muscleman, Deweycheatumnhowe, etc., Federal Flex is a son of the great Muscles Yankee. He is the second foal of the SJs Photo mare Scully FBI, a very talented performer that earned over $550,000 during her career and is a full sister to the $619,000 winner San Remo Kosmos.
Federal Flex, who sold for $100,000 as a yearling, quickly made that back and much more once he began his racing career. He captured his first four lifetime starts which included a sweep of the Bridger Trotting Series at Mohawk Racetrack, the Champlain Stakes (by four lengths in his rookie record time of 1:56.1s), and an elimination of the William Wellwood Memorial. His 1:56.4 victory in the final of the Bridger -- which was his second career start -- established a new stakes record.
In addition, Federal Flex captured the $718,000 final of the Valley Victory Stakes at Woodbine Racetrack. He was second by less than one length in his Breeders Crown elimination, and finished third to Muscle Hill in the final after having started from Post 10. At the conclusion of the season, he was named Canada’s Two Year Old Trotting Colt of the Year.
The colt made just six starts this year as a three-year-old and won half of those, including his Goodtimes elimination and the final at Mohawk. Federal Flex was also victorious in the Stanley Dancer Memorial, winning by more than five lengths at the Meadowlands Racetrack in a life's best 1:53.3.
He retires with a summary of 8-2-1 in 15 starts for $840,643 in earnings.
Federal Flex will stand for an introductory fee of $5,000. Syndication shares are available.
