According to an article on cityam.com, a deal may be in the works which would see Bodog Europe purchase 'The Tote,' a principal government-run wagering organization in Great Britain which accepts action on horse

racing.

The report states that Bodog Europe's managing director, Keith McDonnell, was previously the managing director of the Tote’s online betting arm.

McDonnell has refused to comment on the situation. “Any internal conversation about a deal remains confidential,” he was quoted as saying.

According to shareholderexecutive.gov.uk, the government had been preparing for a sale of the Tote, but in October 2008 it announced that conditions were not right for a sale and that it should remain in public ownership for the medium term. However, sale remains the Government’s ultimate policy objective.

The cityam.com article states that the government has put the Tote back on the sales block in recent weeks, as £16 billion worth of state assets are up for sale.
