Cbf Squirt Gun took the top tilt, the $16,901 featured pace, on a full card of TrackMaster races at Plainridge Park on Tuesday, Oct. 28.
Cbf Squirt Gun (Brett Beckwith) pushed off the gate and led to the quarter in :27.3 until Star Speaker (Bruce Ranger) ambled up on the outside to displace him from the point. Star Speaker then managed the pace through the half in :56.1 and to three-quarters in 1:25.1, where Cbf Squirt Gun sat in the pocket as an outer flow was three-high next to him, and two-deep in the second row.
As the field proceeded through the turn, Third Power (Matty Athearn) was pressing Star Speaker as Cbf Squirt Gun was still in the two-hole, waiting for an opening. That came at the top of the stretch, where Beckwith found room along the pegs and unleashed Cbf Squirt Gun, who reached the line on top by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:54.1. Star Speaker held second over the closing Brazos (Wally Watson).
Cbf Squirt Gun ($5.20) is owned by Glenn Harris and trained by Nathan Kirker. The six-year-old son of Deuce Seelster-Power Ballad is now 12-for-110 lifetime with $198,201 in earnings.
Drivers Athearn, Nick Graffam and Kevin Switzer Jr. all had two wins each on Tuesday while 10 different trainers each won one race apiece.
Live harness racing will resume at Plainridge Park on Thursday at 2 p.m. The card features the $1.2 million USD finals of the Massachusetts Breeders Stakes. Eight $150,000 USD divisions will decide the 2025 champions.
