Twin B Tuffenuff showed his class on a crisp Sunday afternoon at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park, fighting off his foes in the $5,100 Preferred Pace on Oct. 26.
Driver Gilles Barrieau put Twin B Tuffenuff on the point from post two in a contested :27 opening panel. After keeping his rivals at bay through middle splits of :56 and 1:25.4, the 10-year-old son of Rock N Roll Heaven-In The Pink prevailed in 1:54.2 by a neck over his late-closing stablemate, House Edge Hanover (Ken Murphy), with favourite Bee Two Bee (Jason Hughes) closing up for the show spot over the game two-move challenger, Wind Blown (Paul Langille). Nothing Bugs Me (Corey MacPherson) completed the order in a blanket finish.
Twin B Tuffenuff earned his fifth victory of the season in 19 starts for trainer Ron Matheson and local owner Patrick Morris. He now sits on the verge of 50 career wins with a bankroll totalling $823,391.
Twin B Tuffenuff paid $7.20 to win at 5-2 odds.
Corey MacPherson scored a driving quadruple on the special Sunday presentation. Paul Langille doubled as a trainer/driver. Adam Merner also scored a training and driving double.
One of MacPherson's wins was with Five Star Dragon ($19.40) in 1:56.2 for trainer Vaughan Doyle in race seven, sponsored by The Joyriders. Race five, also sponsored by The Joyriders, was won by Elroy Shiner ($6.20) in 1:56.2 with Brady Sweet at the controls for the Jeff Holmes stable.
