Grit N Grace lived up to her name on Friday, Oct. 24 at Woodbine Mohawk Park, prevailing over a stout group of older pacing mares in the $40,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace on the undercard of the first night of 2025 Breeders Crown championship finals.
Driver Jody Jamieson sent 7-2 third choice Grit N Grace to the front from post seven, clearing So Much More (Doug McNair) through the opening turn. After panels of :26.2, :55.4 and 1:23.3, Grit N Grace powered home with a :26.4 final quarter to repel the late rally of favoured Talk Curdy To Me (Louis-Philippe Roy) by a length in 1:50.2. Locked in the pocket, So Much More stayed for the show spot.
A homebred of St. Claude, Manitoba's Lorraine Rey, Grit N Grace (Im The Pied Piper - Dragonart) scored her 12th win of the year in 30 starts for trainer Mike Kwietniowski. The four-year-old bay mare now boasts a career bankroll of $325,185 by virtue of her 19-13-2 summary from 46 lifetime appearances.
