Never Shui Never has been nothing short of flawless in her young career and will look for more in the Home Hardware Maritime Breeders Stakes as part of a special Saturday doubleheader on Oct. 26 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The afternoon card gets underway at 12 p.m., with 10 dashes scheduled as the start of a 23-race day.
Never Shui Never has post two in her $31,600 Maritime Breeders Stakes two-year-old pacing filly event in race nine. Gilles Barrieau trains and drives the filly for owner Nikway Farms. The daughter of Pang Shui has scored three wins from as many starts in her career. Her chief rivals are Howmac Maleficent (Ken Murphy) and Mindbodyandsoul (Paul Langille).
The other Maritime Breeders Stakes two-year-old pacing filly division is in race eight with Saulsbrook Inferno the top selection with David Dowling driving for trainer Earl Watts and owners Windemere Farms, Hollis Newson, Jack Quinn and Sterling Buchanan. The Flameproof Hanover filly is a five-time winner in 2024 with $57,482 in the bank. She lines up against the likes of Lady Llamrei (Adam Merner) and Windemereontheline (Langille).
The two-year-old pacing colts have a trio of $22,400 Maritime Breeders Stakes divisions in races two, four and six.
The first Maritime Breeders Stakes for rookie pacing colts has Rosetown Eclipse (Corey MacPherson) as the top selection from post three for owners Rosetown Stable, Jim Gorman and Mike Gorman. The Bet The Moon gelding is the favourite over Phil My Beer (Marc Campbell) and Woodmere Rocketman (Barrieau).
The next division has the Bet The Moon colt Here On Earth favoured from the rail for trainer/driver Merner and owners Cory Livingston and Jared Perrot. The other favourites are All My Lovin (Marc Campbell) and Prince Malicious (Jason Hughes).
In the final division, Malevolent, a gelded son of Malicious trained and driven by Paul Langille, will look to improve his eight-for-nine record from post five for owners Rosanne Langille and Debbie Francis. His opponents include Like A King (Dowling) and Sergeant Crowley (Barrieau).
Pasta Momma has her sights set on the Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares Series crown to go along with her track record standard during the second half of the Saturday doubleheader at Charlottetown Driving Park. The 13-dash card will begin at 6 p.m.
Marc Campbell drives the Landon Campbell-trained Pasta Momma for owners Brady Doyle and Ryan and Everett MacLeod. The four-year-old Huntsville mare will have rail control in the $14,650 final of the Atlantic Aged Pacing Mares Series, presented by Standardbred Canada, in race 12.
Tobins Chester (Hughes) and Merigo Magic (Merner) will go head-to-head again in their race 10 Home Hardware Maritime Breeders Stakes three-year-old pacing colt division for $28,500. Tobins Chester, the favoured son of Shanghai Phil, is in the midst of a record-setting year with the most money ever earned by a horse in Atlantic Canada in a single season with $120,493 in the bank for trainer Ashley Gamester and owner Donald MacRae.
The other $28,500 Maritime Breeders Stakes three-year-old pacing colt split has Jackies Boy (Myles Heffernan Sr.) as the top dog from post two for owner/trainer Myles Heffernan Jr. The Tobago Cays gelding's rivals include Little Leroy (MacPherson) and Jack Boswall (Marc Campbell).
The three-year-old pacing fillies have three Maritime Breeders Stakes divisions in races two, four and eight, each with purses of $20,250.
In the first, Fern Hill Indigo (Brodie MacPhee) is the morning line favourite against Lady Willa (Marc Campbell) and Miss Dutton (Merner). Tom Weatherbie trains the Malicious filly for Next Generation Stable.
In the next division, Zendayas Firstlady (Heffernan Sr.) will take on Downtown Tonight (Merner) and Windemere Saddy (Marc Campbell). Stephen Quinn trains the duaghter of Arthur Blue Chip for his father John Quinn.
Atlantic Breeders Crown champion Galway Girl (Marc Campbell) is favoured in the final division for sophomore fillies. The daughter of Shanghai Phil hails from the Brent Campbell stable for owners Brady Doyle, Jacinta Campbell, Bernard MacDonald and Kent MacDonald. Her rivals are slated as Shelleys Spirit (Heffernan Sr.) and First Filly Chip (MacPherson).
